An Evolution

A number of catalysts convinced the team behind Miami EdTech (formerly focused in southern Florida) to take their mission nationwide as Advance Computer Science:

  • Students of all ages became even more comfortable learning remotely during Covid-19
  • The team developed significant expertise in launching, managing, and growing Registered Apprenticeships
  • Miami EdTech incubator graduate GoSprout’s apprenticeship management platform began to get national adoption
  • It became clear the team had significant expertise in identifying and winning grants from programs across the nation
  • The demand for CS/IT education beginning in high school has never been higher nor more critical for ensuring our nation’s youth have a path to well-paid jobs

So the team met with its board and decided the time was right to take their mission and skills to a wider audience. Advance Computer Service now serves students, schools, and employers across the country.

Our Vision & Mission

We aim to close the skills gap and improve economic opportunities for our community through computer science advocacy and integration, digital skilling and workforce development.

CARLOS VAZQUEZ, M.S. ED, MIT

Our Founder

Access to computer science is a social justice issue. We have a responsibility to all members of the community to provide them with the tools, skills, and resources needed to thrive in our new digital economy.

Passionate about Workforce Education, Carlos has spent his career at the intersection of technology and education. Formally trained as a Computer Scientist, the inspiration to launch Miami EdTech came from 1. the countless teachers who have inspired him 2. the STEM crisis faced in access for Black and Brown people 3. his experience as a 5th grade teacher in NYC.
